Logging into your BSO customer account

First go to the BSO website at www.bsolive.com – we recommend using the Google Chrome browser on a PC or Safari on an iPad. In the top right corner of every page on the BSO website you will see a little person icon (a bit like a chess pawn) labelled “My account”. Click on this link to open up the login page.  If you have a reduced sized window or you are on a phone then the icon and navigation menu will not be visible – in this case you will see an icon consisting on 4 horizontal lines forming a square. Click on this and then the little person icon labelled “My account” will be shown at the bottom of the drop down menu.

Log into your account by entering your email address and password. If you have forgotten your password then click on the “Forgot password? Reset here” link and follow the instructions in the email that will automatically be sent to you.

Once logged in you will see your personal account page with your personal details listed and you should see that your name has appeared next to the little person icon. This needs to remain for the whole time you are logged in. If it disappears then you have been logged out for some reason and may have to log in again. From here, look at the main menu at the top and click “What’s on” to take you to the concert listings. Once logged in you can access any digital content that you have purchased by clicking the “My digital library” link at the top of the page.

Equipment tips

The most reliable way to watch our livestreams is using a wired connection between your laptop or iPad and your TV. We have put together a handy list of ways to connect and you can download this information using the links on this page.

Streaming tips

We also have a short clip of Teresa Riveiro Böhm and the BSO performing the capricious 1st movement from Schubert’s 5th Symphony recorded at Lighthouse, Poole earlier this year. You can use to this test your video and audio feeds. It is best to watch through an up-to-date browser (we recommend Google Chrome on a PC and Safari on an Apple device). Each concert will be streamed on a similar page to this with an embedded video link which you can expand to fill the full screen. BSO staff will be on hand to assist with any technical issues and will try to resolve any issues as soon as possible should they arise.

Simply click the play button to start and use the 4-arrow button on the right side of the menu bar to give you a full-screen picture. If you are experiencing buffering (when you get interrupted video or sound) we suggest that you change the Vimeo stream settings by clicking on the button that looks like a cog and changing from auto to either 720p or 540p and seeing if that makes a difference. Many factors can influence video playback, including some that pertain to your computer or device, so if buffering persists and you are not getting the best viewing experience on Vimeo, you might want to try these simple fixes:

  • Switch to “Auto” in the quality menu, if available.

Auto mode automatically adjusts to the best quality of video for your current Internet connection and processing speed. We recommend using this default setting to avoid buffering delays. If “Auto” is not available, switch to one of the lower quality options.

  • Check your bandwidth

We require network speeds of 500 kbps or higher in order to stream our lowest playback quality (240p). You can use this speedtest to get a general sense of your Internet speed during the time of the issue. Keep in mind that bandwidth can fluctuate, especially on Wifi or cellular networks.

  • Disable any browser extensions, plugins, or add ons

Third party programs can sometimes cause issues during playback— including blocked video segments, dropped frames, buffering, etc. If you’re having trouble, try disabling any active extensions one-by-one to find the culprit. You can also open your video within an incognito or private window of your browser for testing.

  • Restart your router and modem

Resetting your router or modem can help to refresh your connection and improve playback performance. Try disconnecting the power cord and then reconnecting to perform a hard reboot.

  • Update your browser

Browser software is constantly being improved upon. Make sure you are using the latest version of your browser for peak performance. The latest version of each browser can be found here.

  • Close excess browser tabs or applications

Keeping too many applications open can make everything run slower, including video playback. Especially on a mobile device, it’s easy to forget which apps are running. Make sure that you completely close or disable apps instead of just minimizing their windows.

  • Clear your browser’s cache

Although this may sound simple, refreshing your cache can help with many different issues, including playback.

  • Disable/Enable Hardware acceleration

Hardware acceleration makes resource-hungry operations run more efficiently, but sometimes doesn’t work well with older graphics cards. Try disabling or enabling this option within your browser settings.
