At the BSO, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to create and engage with music, be that as a participant or a member of the audience. Offering both social and health benefits, much of our work across communities is developed to bring people of all abilities together to create and explore.

The ECFO sessions are run by our Associate, Emma Welton, who helps participants to shape the music, exploring new ways to create sound and to enjoy the social element of music in a comfortable and informal environment.

Exeter Community Family Orchestra provides a common meeting ground, regardless of music taste, experience or ability. It promotes shared experiences across generations and provides a musical family for those living on their own.

Autumn Term 2026

We meet on Sunday’s 10.30am – 12.30 pm
at Thornlea Building, Exeter University, EX4 4LA

We are pleased to confirm that next term’s dates are
20 September, 4 October, 18 October, 1 November, 15 November & 29 November

All you need to bring is a mug for a hot drink (if you want one). It’s also worth checking the weather forecast to wear appropriate clothes, as sometimes we do go outside.

We can provide instruments (tuned and untuned percussion, melodicas and ukuleles), but you are more than welcome to bring your own. You can attend as many or as few sessions as you like.

If you are interested in joining and are in the Exeter/Devon area, email Michael Armstrong for further information.
