Singing in a choir is a brilliant way to meet new people and it has been proven to instill a sense of happiness and increase wellbeing.
At the moment with social distancing making things impractical, we are not able to sing together but that doesn’t stop BSO Voices! We have now created fantastic virtual performance videos of several classic songs including Over the Rainbow, Can you Feel the Love Tonight and Put On Your Sunday Clothes, as well as a couple of Christmas favourites- see below. To kick off 2021 we shall be learning a world premiere commission reflecting the joy and benefits of singing in a choir – Shoulder to Shoulder – which will again be recorded to produce a final video featuring everyone who has taken part.
When the world returns to normal and we are once again able to rehearse and perform together, choir performs at least three times a year under the direction of conductor, Pete Harrison with the full Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. There are no auditions to join and the ability to read music is not essential.
Choir members enjoy being part of the BSO family, sharing experiences in rehearsal and on the concert platform, with social events alongside plenty of tea, biscuits and fun.
- Rehearsals take place on Wednesday evenings from 7.15-9.30pm at Richard Taunton Sixth Form College, Hill Lane, Southampton, SO15 5RL
- Please ensure that you can attend the rehearsals (you may miss up to 3 rehearsals by prior agreement) and that you are able to perform in the final concert
- Music and rehearsal CDs will be given out at the first rehearsal or will be available for download from the BSO website BSO Voices Resources page at the start of term
What a brilliant day and to add to the collection of such wonderful memories that will last for ever - thank you. Can't wait for the next one.
