We’re kicking off the season with music at the beautiful setting of The Grange Festival with operas Così fan tutte and The Queen of Spades…Music OMH said “This was as close to perfection as any Così can be”. Performances run until 2 July…see here for more info.

Our popular series of chamber-scale concerts, BSO On Your Doorstep, tours the region throughout the summer, with the BSO’s Brass Octet bring music ‘From Baroque to Bowie’ to Ottery St Mary, Devon on 28 June. There are further performances in the series, including, at MAST Mayflower Studios, Southampton, on 7 July with music ‘From the Hebrides to Padstow’ to guide audiences of all ages on a nautical musical journey — and at the Belmont Estate, near Bristol, on 23 July, with ‘Music for Reflection’.

We can’t wait to perform at the BBC Proms on 2 August with our Chief Conductor Kirill Karabits and Artist-in-Residence, Felix Klieser. The performances mark the culmination of Felix’s two-year tenure with us, and he also performs a Relaxed Prom with us on 3 August. The 2 August concert will also feature the world premiere of Ivan Karabits’ Concerto for Orchestra No.1 ‘A Musical Gift to Kyiv’.

Our popular BSO Proms in the Park concerts on 4 & 5 August bring symphonic music into the heart of Bournemouth. These concerts in Meyrick Park, Bournemouth are truly joyous; we love playing live symphonic music for you in the beautiful green surrounds. For more details of what to expect click here

In July, we’ll perform at Marlborough College [11 July] for a selection of midsummer classics — such as Mendelssohn’s The Hebrides Overture and Beethoven’s Symphony No.8, under the baton of our Assistant Conductor Tom Fetherstonhaugh — before the stunning Salisbury Cathedral on 22 July for Richard Blackford’s intensely beautiful Pietà, alongside Bournemouth Symphony Chorus and Pacific Chorale.  The magnificent Haydn Nelson Mass will also be conducted by Robert Istad and choirs and orchestra are joined by internationally acclaimed soloists including Classic BRIT award winning saxophonist, Amy Dickson.

Amateur musicians also unite for a music-making celebration when Dorset Rusties perform Rachmaninov’s last major work, Symphonic Dances, on Sunday 16 July at Lighthouse, Poole. This is an opportunity for amateur musicians from across the region to learn and perform alongside our BSO musicians- as well as a chance to meet like-minded people in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
