Bournemouth Symphony Chorus and Pacific Chorale join forces with Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra to perform the magnificent Haydn Nelson Mass conducted by Robert Istad followed by the intensely beautiful Pietà by Richard Blackford performed by Bournemouth Symphony Chorus, Bournemouth Symphony Youth Chorus and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra conducted by Gavin Carr. Pietà, the third major work composed by Richard Blackford for the Bournemouth Symphony Chorus won the prestigious Ivor Novello Composer Award in 2020 for the Choral Category. Pietà is a powerful setting of the Stabat Mater with additional poems by the Ukraine poet Anna Akhmatova.
