1.What can I expect?

Hosted in one of Bournemouth’s most beautiful green spaces, these concerts — which form the ‘BSO Proms in the Park’ series — feature a range of music performed in the open air. From the best symphonic film scores of all time to Abba’s greatest hits, alongside the complete Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.

Friday night’s Heroes and Superheroes features music celebrating the heroes both historic and fictitious which have inspired some of the best big screen adventures ever.

Then on Saturday we present an Abba Symphonic Spectacular  which will celebrate all the best music from the super group. The Orchestra will be joined by a quartet of West End singers, as well as conductor Pete Harrison. Why not dress up and enjoy a dancetastic night out in your flares rounded off by fantastic fireworks!

2. What do I need to bring?

This is the perfect opportunity to share a picnic in the beautiful surrounds of Meyrick Park! Bring your favourite snacks and drinks, kick back with friends and enjoy the music. Make sure you also bring something to sit on so you can make yourself comfortable. A hat and sun cream are advisable (and an extra umbrella is always useful… we hope for use against the sun not the rain!)

3. What should I wear?

Whatever you feel most comfortable in. Of course we’d definitely encourage some Abba-inspired outfits, if you’ve got a spare pair of flares available… or your best superhero outfit!  But otherwise just something comfortable and lightweight for the weather — an extra layer is probably a good idea for when the sun goes down.

4. How do I get there?

Walking: Meyrick Park lies within easy walking distance of Bournemouth Town Centre (north side)

Taxi: A taxi and drop-off system will be operation on Central Drive off Braidley Road prior to the concerts. Please follow the instructions given by the traffic Marshalls.
