The Orchestra kicked off its return last night with Hough Plays Brahms, a concert conducted by Sir John Eliot Gardiner and featuring pianist Stephen Hough. Further highlights include the return of Marta Gardolińska, our previous Young Conductor in Association, as well as one of our ever popular film concerts, Hollywood Classics.

Though the full orchestra was unable to perform together during January and much of February this year, we have enjoyed being able to present a selection of chamber music in its place. Some highlights of this were the special concert from the beautiful St Giles House, as well as a recital with Paul Lewis.

Chamber Music at St Giles House

It has been unique to reconnect with this different way of making music, to explore a variety of repertoire; and of course to stay connected with you, our audiences.

Anthony Brown, Head of Marketing, said:

“I know that our livestreams mean a lot to our online customers during these uncertain times so it was a priority for us to maintain our weekly contact. I am delighted that the BSO’s in-house digital team rose to the challenge of producing such great videos whilst we awaited the return of live symphonic concerts. I really enjoyed this week’s concert with Sir John Eliot Gardiner and Stephen Hough. It was a treat to see the whole Orchestra playing together again.”
