We welcome entries from all musical genres and backgrounds, including classical, jazz, pop, folk and more. There are three age categories: 18–24 years, 25–39 years and 40+ years. The winner of each category will win £1,000 courtesy of Lark Music!

Judging criteria

Control – How well you play your instrument

  • A performance that feels confident and in control
  • Notes and rhythms that are clear and intentional
  • A sense that you are comfortable with your instrument

Creativity and Musicality – How you bring the music to life

  • A performance that feels expressive and engaging
  • A sense of style, mood, or personality
  • Your own interpretation or interesting creative approach

Creativity can be shown in different ways – through musical expression and interpretation, an original composition, or by reimagining an existing work. All are equally valued.

 Communication – How your performance connects with the viewer

  • A performance that is engaging to watch
  • Clear and effective video
  • A sense of connection and presence on screen
