Heather’s story

Moving to Bournemouth 50 years ago from a small Somerset seaside town, my sister and I were bowled over by the joy of having such a wonderful orchestra on our doorstep – and we still are!

This orchestra means the absolute world to us both and, in these somewhat difficult times, music becomes more and more a healing power. Whether experiencing the excitement of being in the concert hall or relishing the livestreamed performances, my life is uplifted and enriched by being part of the BSO family.

When I was thinking about making my Will, the predominant thought was who, or what, has given me the most pleasure during my life? The years of enjoying the fabulous music of the BSO answered that question!

“It can be easy to forget that the BSO is a charity and relies on music lovers to do our bit to help secure its future.”

Leaving a legacy has been such a positive thing to do, and committing to that promise for the future has left me with such a good feeling.

I want to know that, for years to come, the BSO will thrive and continue to provide joy and happiness to many thousands of people. I feel a sense of contentment knowing that, one day, I’ll be part of making sure that happens.

Carol’s story

The decision to make a Will is a profound one, making sure it reflects precisely what has been most important in your life. The peace of mind that comes from taking this step can also be quite profound.

Ours was a very musical family, and we took full advantage of the concerts at the Winter Gardens when we first moved to Dorset. Leaving a legacy to the Orchestra is my way of showing gratitude for the inexpressible pleasure the BSO has given me over many, many years. It’s also a way of remembering our parents who instilled in us a deep love of music at an early age.

“Every time I experience the BSO’s glorious music-making, I’m glad I chose to leave a gift in my Will.”

There can be no better way to support this extraordinary, innovative and cherished Orchestra we are lucky enough to call ours than to help safeguard its future.

I am astonished by the diversity of the BSO’s community work and the lasting, often life-changing, effect on those audiences who may never have experienced the wonder of a live orchestra before. Wherever and however they share their music – be it on stage, in a nursing home, school, or hospital – the impact is truly inspiring. A world without that ongoing commitment to our communities is unthinkable.

We both feel privileged to be able to play a small part in helping to secure the future of the Orchestra through the gifts we’ve included in our Wills. I would encourage anyone who values the BSO and what they stand for to consider whether they might be able to do the same.

If you have already included a gift to the BSO in your Will, please accept our heartfelt thanks. Your commitment means such a lot to everyone here. If you’re considering leaving a legacy and would like to find out more, click here.
