Specifically designed for people with dementia as well as those who enjoy an informal concert experience; cake concerts are ideal enjoyed with a cup of tea and a slice of cake.

A year of lockdown has meant our BSO Participate team has had to revise the way they deliver their usual activities within the community. It is well documented that for people living with dementia music can enliven, stimulate and enable creative expression beyond words; therefore it’s really important that we continue providing this service where we can. With the help of digital technology we have recorded a Digital Cake Concert for viewers to watch in the comfort of their own homes.

Presented by BSO Associate Hugh Nankivell, the concert sees a trio of BSO musicians performing a mix of popular classical hits and light music; including Debussy’s The Girl with the Flaxen Hair, Elgar’s Chanson de Matin and Mancini’s Moon River, amongst others. The concert will also include interesting facts and conversation starters presented by Hugh, for a thoroughly interactive experience.

The concert is free to attend though donations are welcome. Booking is required.  It will be available to view indefinitely on the BSO website.
