Online booking has now closed for Dorset Rusties 2022. If you would still like to take part in remaining rehearsals, please contact Lauren Glover for more information, lglover@bsorchestra.co.uk

Rusty & Not So Rusty Musicians events give amateur musicians of all ages to learn and perform alongside professional musicians from our orchestra. Rusties benefit from specialist coaching during rehearsals, professional instruction from a BSO conductor, and a chance to meet like-minded people in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

Dorset Rusties is our biggest event of the year, with amateur musicians from across the region performing alongside the full Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra at the Lighthouse, Poole’s Centre for the Arts.

This year the eclectic programme includes ranges from Marquez’s uplifting and toe-tapping Danzon No.2 to Antonin Dvorak’s ever popular Symphony 9 “From the New World”.

Rehearsals will take place from 10am – 5pm on Sunday 3 July (Wareham), 10 July (Bridport) and 17 July (Dorchester) ahead of an afternoon rehearsal and evening concert on Sunday 24 July at the Lighthouse.

The £75/£35 ticket price includes attendance at all rehearsals (except percussion see below), the performance and all music. If for any reason you feel the cost of entry is a barrier to participation, do get in touch with the team to see if we can offer any assistance.

We have places for the following instruments:

Violin I Bassoon
Violin II French Horn
Viola Trumpet
Cello Trombone
Double Bass Tuba
Flute Timpani (17 & 24 July only)
Oboe Percussion (17 & 24 July only)
Piano (17 & 24 July only)

Everyone at Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra couldn’t be more excited to welcome musicians from the region back onto our stage.
