In the glorious setting of Christchurch Priory, our special fundraising concert features works from some of the great masters of melody, performed by the musicians of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra under the baton of BSO Chief Conductor, Mark Wigglesworth.

The evening features masterful symphonic and chamber works by Beethoven, Mozart, Bach and Handel, showcasing melodic flare and passionate themes, and allowing the audience to get to know the BSO musicians, both as symphonic and chamber musicians, in a wonderfully welcoming environment.

With BSO Chief Conductor, Mark Wigglesworth conducting the full forces of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra in two of Mozart and Beethoven’s most recognisable works, BSO Leader Amyn Merchant directing Bach’s beloved Brandenburg Concerto No.3 and the BSO Brass presenting Handel’s famous Sarabande from Suite in D Minor, this really is an evening not to be missed!

Tickets include a concert programme, and there is an option to add a small donation with your purchase to help the BSO Benevolent Fund’s valuable fundraising efforts.

The BSO Benevolent Fund is a charity run by the musicians for the musicians. It was set up in 1958 to provide financial support for musicians in cases of prolonged and/or serious illness or injury. From the start it has been successful in meeting these aims with the very generous support of those who have contributed. The main source of income is the annual Benevolent Fund Concert at which all the musicians give freely of their services, as have many conductors and soloists who have featured in these concerts over the years. The Fund also embraces members when they retire, and by keeping in touch with them at Christmas it helps to maintain a link with old colleagues.
