BSO On Your Doorstep: Cheltenham Cheltenham Music Festival

The BSO is delighted to be returning to the Cheltenham Music Festival for a virtuosic and celebratory programme. Opening with Mozart’s sublime ‘Gran Partita’ for 13 wind instruments, the orchestra goes on to mark 50 years since Stravinsky’s death. One of the most important composers of the 20th century, Stravinsky’s Concerto for Strings displays his neoclassical writing at its cleanest-unadorned and alternately gritty and graceful without artifice. The concert closes with another serenade, this time by Tchaikovsky who was inspired by Mozart’s The Magic Flute, and which is considered one of the late Romantic era’s definitive compositions.
