Cellist Johannes Moser plays music for students in Devon
In September, star cellist Johannes Moser visited Braunton Academy (as part of his tour to Exeter University’s Great Hall and Queens Theatre Barnstable with the BSO) to inspire musical learning and give students an insight into the life of a professional soloist. After performing for students, he answered a variety of questions about his cello and musical career.

‘GCSE Set Works Live’ travel the South West
Musicians from the BSO will share live music with GCSE students in schools and venues across the South West from autumn. The concerts are completely free for schools to attend and will explore repertoire from the GCSE syllabus. Their aim is to bring music from the classroom into full symphonic life for students!
GCSE Set Works Live begin in October and will travel to schools in Bournemouth, Winchester, Newquay and Swindon. In November they’ll travel further to Southampton, Plymouth, and Cullompton.
‘Explore the Orchestra’ gears up for 2026
Every year we perform Explore the Orchestra concerts for primary-aged students across the South West! These interactive concerts fill huge concert halls with local students and this year they’ll be travelling to Portsmouth and Exeter in January 2026, before continuing onto Bristol in March and Poole in May.
Introducing students to the excitement of live, symphonic music, these concerts are presented by the award-winning composer and presenter James Redwood and feature interactive music-making for everyone to take part in.

Students take part in our Explore the Orchestra concerts
We can’t wait to share our live music-making with students, and we hope to see you and your school at one of our events this year.
