The new commission is part of a project with PRS for Music Partners with The Riot Ensemble. She is one of six contemporary classical music composers who feature on the BBC Radio 3 New Music Show which airs the best and latest in cutting-edge and experimental new music.

Carmen completed her PhD studies at Bristol University under the supervision of Professor John Pickard. She is the Winner of the Royal Philharmonic Society Composition Prize (2018) and the finalist in the 9th International Antonin Dvořák Composition Competition. Last year she was mentored by leading British Composer Charlotte Bray while writing a piece for the Hong Kong Philharmonic as well as being one of the finalists in the Toru Takemitsu Composition Award in association with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra.

Her music has been performed and workshopped across the UK and Europe by musicians such as Ensemble Variances, Bristol Ensemble, Musikfabrik, BBC Singers, Kokoro ensemble and Bristol University Symphony Orchestra.

We’re looking forward to hearing much more from this talented young composer in the future—watch this space!
