Earlier this summer we announced a series of initiatives for all ages, from groups for amateur musicians to a range of inspiring projects for children aged 4-14 as part of BSO Young Explorers.

Pizza boxes full of music-making activities have been delivered to pupils in and around the Southampton vicinity in recent weeks in partnership with the Southampton Music Hub. The boxes contain a range of materials that will ensure everyone can explore music, regardless of access to technology or musical instruments, particularly children who are shielding and unable to return to school ahead of September.

Kath Page of Southampton Music Hub said, “We are delighted that Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra have provided shielded children in Southampton with musical resources, the second of our Musicians of Shield pizza box deliveries. I would like to say a huge thank you to the BSO team; because of their inspirational ideas, shielded children in the city can be inspired by the work of world-class musicians”.
