Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra’s On Your Doorstep concerts bring specially designed mid-scale chamber ensembles to venues and audiences across the South West, in engaging programmes for families, new audiences and seasoned concert-goers alike – an entertaining blend of music ranging from classical treats to more up-to-date favourites. Working with rural touring partners, they travel to venues across the South and South West, from village halls to community spaces.

In this programme, be transported into the world of dance, exploring music from Saint-Saens’ dramatic Danse Macabre to the vibrant klezmer of Béla Kovács. Encounter the ethereal energy of Cevanne Horrocks Hopayin and the joyous folk melodies of Bartok’s Romanian Dances.  Glide gracefully with elegant ballet, step in time with Mary Poppins and swing into Lilian Armstrong’s toe tapping New Orleans jazz.

Guided through the programme by a presenter and with fascinating insights into the music and instruments, this performance by Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, BSO Resound (the world’s first disabled-led ensemble, as part of a professional orchestra’s core activities) and alumni from National Open Youth Orchestra, bridges old and new and features orchestral instruments alongside the groundbreaking electronic Clarion.

Whether it’s your first time or you’re a regular concert-goer, everyone is welcome at BSO On Your Doorstep concerts, so come and let the music move you with the lively to the serene, and the expressive and rhythmic sounds of dance. Fun for all the family and any level of classical music lover.

BSO On Your Doorsteps are relaxed evening concerts open to all.
