Our friends at Bournemouth Symphony Chorus recently recorded an online performance of Thomas Tallis’s motet, If Ye Love Me. Conducted by Chorus Director Gavin Carr the singers recorded their parts from home before being edited together.
One of England’s greatest composers, Thomas Tallis (1505-85) wrote the four-part motet in his later years; the work was published in 1565, during the reign of Elizabeth I. With text from the Gospel of John, it remains a popular work.
Bournemouth Symphony Chorus has enjoyed a long association with the Orchestra and was founded by Sir Dan Godfrey in 1911 as the Bournemouth Municipal Choir. Renamed in 1979, it has around 150 members and gives the majority of its performances with the Orchestra. Click here to find out more.
