Designed for KS2 students, these thrilling and interactive concerts will be presented by award-winning composer, James Redwood, and we will be joined by Mezzo-soprano singer Felicity Buckland. This year, Explore the Orchestra: Sing Out! is all about singing and using our voices. This concert will delve into how vocalists and orchestras work together to tell stories in opera, theatre and the contemporary world. Explore the Orchestra introduces the orchestral families in an accessible way and showcases music from a variety of genres.
These concerts will feature two participatory elements for everyone to use their voices with the orchestra, composed especially for these concerts with schools in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole with our partners SoundStorm. Through these pieces, the audience will learn to sing and perform with the orchestra and be introduced to all the instruments that make up a symphony orchestra.
If you would like to book tickets for one of our Poole concerts but it’s sold out, you can sign up to our livestream and watch the concert from your school. You can tune in live on Wednesday 20 May at 1:30pm, and also access the recording for up to 30 days afterwards. If you’re watching the livestream, here is a document that offers ideas on how to access and use the livestream in a way that best supports you and your students in the classroom.
It's a fantastic opportunity for children to experience a symphony orchestra for the first time and it's always a lot of fun!
