Felix performs in what will be his BBC Proms debut, playing Mozart’s Horn Concerto No 4, a concerto which shows off the skill of the soloist.
Chief Conductor Kirill Karabits will also be conducting a work by his own father, Ivan Karabits: Concerto for Orchestra No.1 ‘A Musical Gift to Kyiv’— a kaleidoscopic tour of the Orchestra which was premiered in 1981 and written to celebrate the 1,500th anniversary of the founding of Kyiv in chiming bells, fanfares and marches: a sonic snapshot of a city in happier days.
The two performances take place on Wednesday 2 August and are broadcast live on BBC Radio 3. There’ll be a deferred broadcast on BBC Four television, before returning on Thursday 3 August for a Relaxed Prom presented by Naomi Wilkinson.
Felix has been in the press widely talking about the performances. Listen to him on BBC World Service, Access All and Times Radio and the Thoroughly Good podcast. He also featured in the Guardian here and in a BBC article here, as well as on page 3 on The Sunday Times.
