The winner of the competition will become Calleva Assistant Conductor of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, working closely with the Orchestra in a supportive and inspiring environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a conductor of professional standard at the start of their career or about to leave post-graduate study to launch their conducting career at an international level.

Up to ten candidates will be invited to audition with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra on Mon 15 & Tues 16 April 2024.

The appointment will start on Thursday 1 September 2024 for a period of 12 months, with possibility of extension for an additional 12 months.  The competition is open to entrants who are 35 or below on 1 September 2024.

The Calleva assistant conductor is expected to attend rehearsals, concerts and recording sessions.  For further information about the orchestra’s pattern of work please enquire before entering.

The Calleva Assistant Conductor is awarded a fee of £20,800 plus allowances.
