Our promise to you is that we will be clear, honest and open in the way we use your data, only use it in ways you would reasonably expect us to, and to stop using it should you request us to, or after you cease to engage with us for a reasonable length of time. This promise sets out the ways in which BSO uses your data and how you can hold us accountable for that.
Data collection
We collect your name, address and electronic contact details (email and phone) in order to provide you with the services you have selected, such as purchasing a ticket, making a donation, becoming a member, attending an event or ensuring you have the information you need.
Use of data
If there is any important change to your booking we will contact you. This information, alongside your purchase and/or donation history, is used to select and inform you of other relevant events or activities we think may be of interest to you, as well as opportunities to support our work as an Arts Charity. We may combine information you provide to us with information available from external sources in order to gain a better understanding of our audiences, visitors and supporters to improve our fundraising and marketing methods. This may include information found in places such as Companies House, your biography on your work website or information that has been published in articles/ newspapers.
Contacting you by Post
If you do not want to receive information by post about events, offers or our fundraising activities, you have the option to change any of your contact preferences at any time by contacting us on the details shown below or by logging onto your account.
Contacting you by Email
If you have given us your email address as part of a ticket purchase, we will send you recommendations for similar events that we think you may enjoy, information about ticket offers, and relevant opportunities to support our work as an arts charity. Should you wish not to receive this information you will be given the option to opt out when joining the database, and you have the option to unsubscribe from future emails via a link at the bottom of any email sent to you.
Contacting you by Telephone
If you have given us your telephone number as part of a ticket purchase, we may use this to inform you of a cancelled or re-arranged performance, to gain your views on our service, or to talk to you about relevant opportunities to support our work as an arts charity. Should you wish not to receive calls from us please contact us on the details shown below.
Associated Venues
Where you have booked tickets for a performance at one of our associated venues (Lighthouse, Poole; Bournemouth Pavilion; Portsmouth Guildhall and O2 Guildhall Southampton) we will pass your contact and booking history details to them for the same purposes as listed above, so that they can be in contact with you directly about their activities. They will contact you directly to inform you of their own data policies and set out how you can opt out of their communications should you choose to.
Membership
Customers joining our membership scheme are, by doing so, agreeing to receive information by email relating to events and activities as a paid-for benefit of the scheme.
Third Parties
Other than for the associated venues listed above, the personal information that you give us will never be supplied to anyone outside BSO for contact purposes without first obtaining your consent, unless we are obliged or permitted by law to disclose it. If you wish to amend your consent, please log into your online account or contact the BSO Box Office on 01202 669925.
