In Winter 2021, the BSO teamed up with SoundStorm Music Education Agency to create a series of school workshops in the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area. These workshops saw schools co-devising musical material for James Redwood’s participatory song which features in the live Midnight Magic concerts coming to Exeter in January 2023.

Devon and Torbay schools now have the opportunity to get involved in the co-devising of Explore the Orchestra 3!

Explore the Orchestra 3 – coming to Exeter in Winter 2023 – 2024

BSO and Devon and Torbay Music Education Hubs are searching for schools to help create compositional ideas that may make it into the participatory song in the Explore the Orchestra 3 concert.

Workshops will be led by James Redwood from 7 – 11 November 2022. By engaging in this opportunity you will automatically receive tickets to one of the free concerts in Winter 23 – 24 (dates to be confirmed.)

To summarise:

  • A 1 hour 30 min (can change depending on your school timetable) morning or afternoon workshop led by James Redwood at your school
  • The school will need to provide instruments for this such as percussion, recorders, ukuleles or orchestral instruments.
  • It will be the most rewarding if the workshop is for the students that would come to the concert in Winter 23 – 24.
  • There can be up to 20 students in the workshop
  • A schools zoom session with Hazel Gould will be held in October 2022 to shape the song lyrics – Date TBC!
