His music held deep roots in the folk and symphonic traditions of the past centuries of the Church Slavonic and his home country.

He was the conductor of the Kyiv Camerato and the Kyiv Military District Dance Ensemble and wrote for various instruments and combinations of instruments including voice, solo piano, voice and piano and, of course, orchestra. His son, Kirill Karabits, follows in his father’s musical footprints and is currently the Chief Conductor of Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.
