St Giles House is a magnificent estate with a long and rich history. Over the past 400 years it has been at the heart of politics, philosophy and social thought. We’re grateful to have been able to record in such a stunning location at this time thanks to the Earl and Countess of Shaftesbury (Lord Shaftesbury is a Trustee and longstanding supporter of the Orchestra).
The selection of pieces for cello and harp included J S Bach’s Cello Suite No.1 and Handel’s Harp Concerto (fascinatingly Handel was a frequent visitor to St Giles House). The beautiful setting lent itself perfectly to the intimacy of chamber music; it felt as though the music really came alive within the walls of the historic estate.
