Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra is seeking applications from exceptional candidates for the position of Principal Viola.Based in Poole, Dorset, the BSO perform extensively across the south and south-west of England, nationally and internationally, and deliver an extensive range of education and community work, through its award-winning Participate department.
The Orchestra’s incoming Chief Conductor is Mark Wigglesworth; Leader Amyn Merchant.
Audition repertoire:
- a movement (including cadenza, if appropriate) from a major viola concerto (i.e.: Bartok, Walton or Hindemith) – please note that Stamitz or Hoffmeister are also acceptable, but not Telemann
- a contrasting piece of your choice
- Excerpts will be sent to candidates who are invited to audition
- Sight-reading may be given
