We will be forming part of the D-Day 75 Commemorative Events taking place in Portsmouth, performing a specially commissioned work by James Olsen called The Keynote of Everything to be SIMPLICITY.
The piece, written by James Olsen for a specially formed young person’s choir, is inspired by the reminiscences of D-Day veterans and the D-Day Story. It has been described as a “musical documentary”, with veterans being interviewed by children from Portsmouth Cathedral’s Sing project. These interviews – as well as ideas from the children themselves – will influence the piece to create a ‘living history’ resource for future generations.
We will be joined for the performance by a choir of children from local schools, as well as the Portsmouth Cathedral Sing Scheme and Choir Church. There will also be a number of amateur musicians taking their place on stage, who will have the chance to play in front of a huge live audience alongside the our musicians.
