Released on the Chandos label, the BSO’s recording of Lyatoshynsky’s Symphony No.3 ‘Peace shall defeat War’ and Grazhyna Op.58, under Chief Conductor Kirill Karabits, has been shortlisted for an International Classical Music Award alongside recordings by the Berlin Philharmonic (Mahler’s Symphony No.5/Kirill Petrenko) and Budapest Festival Orchestra (Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No.6/Ivan Fischer).
Finalists will be announced on 16 December, and winners on 21 January 2020. The Award Ceremony and Gala concert will take place at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville, Spain, on 30 April 2020.
The jury consists of music critics from a range of European publications and broadcasters.
The recording of the Ukrainian composer’s work was the second release in the BSO’s Voices from the East series for the Chandos label. The most recent release being a recording of the music of Avet Terterian.
