Part of the BSO Participate team, our BSO Associate Musicians communicate, inspire, educate, and motivate people and communities through music. These professional freelance musicians and music-leaders also collaborate with their fellow BSO Associates across the South West on a variety of projects.
BSO Associate Musician Patrick Bailey is a conductor, composer and presenter who realised early on that music was a major driving force in his life. After studying music at university Patrick became interested in conducting and composing, and from there became involved with conducting young musicians, and subsequently developed his working practice as a workshop leader and presenter.
Patrick has conducted concerts with Philharmonia, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, London Sinfonietta and many others and has given concerts across Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the USA.
At the fore of the BSO’s participation work in Cornwall, Patrick was appointed a Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra Associate Musician in 2015. He is also the founder and Artistic Director of Kevos, a group of Cornwall-based musicians dedicated to performing contemporary music. He continues to divide his time between Cornwall and working across the UK.
‘Allianz Musical Insurance have been proud partners of the BSO for many years and continue to be amazed at the varied and unique ways in which the BSO supports musicians and the development of music in the community. The ability to inclusively share musical knowledge, experiences and skills is vital to the future of music in the UK and we understand the important role that freelance musicians and the BSO Associate Musicians programme plays in that.’ Brian Hillstead, Partnerships Manager, Allianz Musical Insurance
