Rapidly changing musical colours, exploding gestures and fleeting melodies create a wondrous soundscape of a Starburst before the lofty melodies of Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s Novelletten drifts back down to earth.

The sonic possibilities of string instruments are explored with 12 BSO musicians presenting a colourful programme also featuring Karl Jenkins’ beloved Palladio, Holst’s charmingly bubbly and joyful St Paul’s Suite and an ethereal Lullaby from Gershwin.

The concert will be presented by the musicians as they unravel the invisible strings entwining twentieth and twenty-first century music, composers from across the globe and their relationship with the BSO. A fascinating evening of musical exploration, for an audience of all ages.
