Designed for KS2 students, these thrilling and interactive concerts will be presented by award-winning composer, James Redwood. Explore the Orchestra: Four Elements will feature music that seeks to uncover the mysteries of the four elements that make up our natural world and inspires scientific discovery.
So, prepare to open your mind as we go on a journey to explore music ranging from the traditional and familiar, to the contemporary and unknown.
This concert will feature a participatory song and body percussion piece for everyone to perform, composed for this concert with schools in Bristol. Through these pieces, the audience will learn to sing and perform with the orchestra and be introduced to all the instruments that make up a symphony orchestra.
The concert running time is approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. If the live concerts are shown as sold out, please click here to add your school to the waiting list.’
Pre-Concert CPD Session
James will be leading a FREE CPD session to teach the participatory material that will be featured in the concert, as well as giving ideas for other ways you can prepare your children. The CPD session will be held on Tuesday 25th March 2025, 4.15 – 6pm. Venue: St Nicholas Church, 30 Wareham Rd, Corfe Mullen, Wimborne BH21 3LE
We expect each school attending the concert to send at least one member of staff that will be involved on the day of the concert (ideally a music co-ordinator), to attend the CPD. If you are unable to send a member of staff, please let us know after booking. Further details will be sent.
Coach bursaries
As with previous years, schools can apply for a bursary of £200 to help with travel costs. These bursaries are limited, and we will work closely with the local music hubs to ensure that schools with high level of needs are prioritised. Please apply here.
I think seeing the instruments live, hearing their ranges and listening to a range of music, really inspired the children. One even came away saying he'd like to play violin in an orchestra when he is older
