In a landscape where it is increasingly difficult to experience live music, the BSO believes that children and young people are missing a vital opportunity to thrive.

Scientific research suggests that placing music/arts at the centre of a child’s learning improves their personal development and academic attainment.

Our Adopt a Musician project is set up by pairing a BSO musician and a primary school. This sets up a long lasting relationship in the school. Visits across a year see the musician performing, leading compositional workshops, joining in with school events and helping teachers and children to embrace classical music and the orchestra.

Visits inspire teachers to embed music into their curriculum, and children develop inspirational relationships with musicians that will stay with them throughout their lives.

He has made a big impact with the children and I am constantly asked when we will be seeing him again.
