The history behind Beethoven’s only ballet, The Creatures of Prometheus, will be discussed, as Kirill and the BSO, mark the 250th anniversary of the composer’s birth with a rare complete performance. Before it comes the UK premiere of Absence, a co-commission between the BSO, Rotterdam Philharmonic and Dallas Symphony, from the renowned Finnish composer, Magnus Lindberg. The career of this major voice in 21st century composition will be sketched, and his new work introduced.
