BSO Rusty & Not So Rusty Musicians
Have you ever dreamt of performing with a professional orchestra? Have you played a musical instrument in the past, but not had the opportunity for many years? Then now is the time to dusty off your instrument and revive your talent!
As part of the BSO's residency in Cornwall this April, our Rusty Musicians project offers you the opportunity to receive professional coaching and play with BSO musicians in concert.
The challenge will be to rehearse and perform a symphony in a day, this time Tchaikovsky's Symphony No.2 "Little Russian" with BSO Young Conductor in Association Maxime Tortelier.

BSO Rusty Musicians returns to Dorset for the 14th year! As well as a rehearsal day and final concert with the full Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, you can join in with music-making days across the county with sectional rehearsals and coaching from BSO players. The project is open to all ages and abilities, although players of Grade V and above will find it most rewarding.

"The exposure to playing next door to professional musicians is an amazing experience because you learn so much and that carries over to your playing in other amateur orchestras and groups."
"I like the challenge of the music we play . . . it's helped me develop a whole new way of playing my instrument which has given me the confidence to start playing in local bands and orchestras."
"Being able to network with people, finding out which local bands and orchestras out there - it's really helped me get back into the local music scene"
"It's nice to get back with friends - it's almost like a community of musicians"
