Composed by Stephen McNeff, this partnership project led by the BSO is a large-scale community contemporary music event specially conceived as an official ‘Trailblazing’ project for the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad. A vibrant and spectacular new work, described by McNeff as a Carmina Burana for our times, it is inspired by a secret hidden in the chalk of the Dorset Ridgeway for over a thousand years. Given in promenade performances in an exciting and unusual space, it is premiered by an expanded Kokoro ensemble, Bournemouth Symphony Chorus, Bournemouth Symphony Youth Chorus, Dorset Youth Orchestra, and through Voiceworks and Dance South West, young voices and dancers from Dorset.
